LOGO DESIGN

“Logos are a graphic extension of the internal realities of a company”

– Saul Bass

It all starts with a logo. Logos are more than pretty images, they should tell your brand’s story, explaining your brand message and establishing an emotional connection with your target market. Logos must also be technically functional over many formats. If you’d like to learn more about logos let me know!

STEP ONE: MOCK UPS

After a consultation and initial payment I  produce three  logo mock-ups that reflect the Brand concepts, ideas and in a required style for you to choose from. You may choose one logo at this point for modification, or take elements from any of the 3 mocks for the production of the Step 2 mocks.

STEP TWO: REVISION MOCKS

Once your wants and needs have been established I create one or two more mocks which will hopefully form the general concept for the final logo. From here you choose additional modifications to determine the look for the final logo.

If more mocks are to required at this point, I will charge hourly.

STEP THREE: FINAL LOGO

Here is the part where we make the final edits, we introduce a colour palette to the black and white design and upon final payment  I deliver the final logo in all required formats.
In your brand journey, you will come across pivotal moments where your logo will need to function without reliance on colour to give it meaning.

Logos are sometimes used in non-conventional ways like laser engravings, embroidery, 3d printing, textile printing. All of these products use special machines that don’t support ordinary colored files. This is where monochrome (black and white) formats come into play.

It is also important for businesses to join in marketing and partnership deals with other companies. These partnerships include adding your logo on somebody else’s products, website, etc.. In most cases, a monochrome logo will be asked. Most brands like having monochrome logos so that their page/product does not look cluttered with too many different colors.

Colour IS an important aspect of a good logo but a great logo functions with and without the use of colour.

DID YOU KNOW there are 3 types of logos?

The 3 main categories are more or less an industry standard, and every logo designer form the small logo company to the high-end logo boutique will understand your request when you say “I want type x“. The child-categories, however, have different names and are not necessarily used by all companies. The main types are: LogoType, also known as a WordMark, an Icon or Symbol Mark type and a Combination Mark, where the two combine in a character or emblem.
